Greek Mythology
Greek mythology came to us thanks to a vast collection of texts, the oldest of which are the epics of Homer and the poems of Hesiod, mainly the Theogony, but also through the pictorial arts such as ceramics or through sacred monuments. Greek myths bear witness to the representation that the ancient Greeks had of the world. The mythical characters and events reported by tradition were for the Greeks historical realities from a distant past and therefore served as a working basis for ancient historians.
